CHC40308 - Certificate IV in Disability

Successful completion of this qualification will enable workers to develop services and programs to meet the emotional, physical and social needs of people with disabilities. The skills and knowledge you gain in advanced communication, empowerment techniques and support of daily living activities will be a huge advantage to Disability Support Services employers.

There are no formal academic entry requirements. Wimmera HUB would expect a student applying for a place in this program to meet a Literacy and Numeracy standard equal to Certificate III level.

Study Pathways

This qualification can be accessed through first completing Certificate II in Community Services. Credit transfers at Certificate IV level will then be available. Upon completion of Certificate IV in Disability students may wish to continue studies in the Diploma in Disability and Advanced Diploma in Disability, Community Services Work or Community Services Advocacy. Work available at Diploma level includes Assessor, Case Manager, Coordinator and Manager.

Duration

This is a Full-time course, beginning in February and running through to November.

Students must successfully complete all units to be awarded the qualification.

Delivery Modes

Study in this qualification is available to students by attending classes, workshops and self-paced learning. Only approved students will be able to study through distance learning.

Placement Information

Wimmera HUB will support students to complete at least 40 hours of practical placement. Students must be in possession of a completed National Police Check, Working with Children’s Check and a current First Aid Certificate (HLTFA301C) before practical placement can commence.

Resources

As a Registered Training Organisation, Wimmera HUB is able to order SmallPrint Learning Resources textbooks at a competitive price for students. However, students may source and order their own textbooks. Please speak to the Program Coordinators on how to access suitable textbooks.

Cost

The cost for this course will vary, depending on your eligibility for government funding, whether you wish to RPL, complete a partial enrolment or hold a valid concession. A deposit is required to secure your place in the program. Assistance is available for those who are unable to afford fee payment up front.
